Newell Recycling LLC, which purchased a closed feed mill site in Macon, GA, is looking to clean up the site and reopen as a scrap year. According to local reports the company plans an official opening July 15.
The Macon facility will accept ferrous scrap metals such as iron and steel, and nonferrous scrap such as aluminum and copper.
It will accept materials from "pickup trucks up to 18-wheelers," said Jim Jankowski, marketing and communications manager for the company.
Macon was chosen as the site because of the growth in the Middle Georgia area, he said.
Newell bought the property from Peacock Salvage, which continues in the salvage business at other locations it has in Macon. Macon (Georgia) Telegraph
