Weiner Iron & Metal, Pottsville, Pa., has purchased a new, high-performance horizontal baler for use in nonferrous metal and paper recycling applications. The new Ram II baler from American Baler Co., Bellevue, Ohio, is capable of displacing 22,400 cubic feet per hour with bale densities of up to 90 pounds per cubic foot.
The specific Ram II model installed has 217 tons of compression force on the main ram with a cycle time of 18 seconds. The Ram II is designed to maximize bale density while reducing operator costs, according to the baler company.
Weiner has been operating two other balers, also from American Baler. The single-ram baler will continue to be used to process scrap paper. The other, a two-ram baler used to bale nonferrous metals such as aluminum cans, extrusions and other non-steel products, has been operating since 1996. Installation of the new baler is scheduled for December.Latest from Recycling Today
