Scottish Scrap Recycler Invests in Terex Material Handler

Leeman family invests in more Terex machines for expanding metals and waste handling at Benfleet.

The Leeman family-owned group of businesses has added two new Terex TM350 material handlers to its independent operational center in Essex at Benfleet, where seven Terex units are already in service.

The company also has operational centers in Essex at Grays and Laindon. Combined, the centers handle an annual throughput of some 18,000 tons of scrap metal, mostly ferrous materials, the press release states.

The 78,400-pound Terex TM350 is one of the most popular models in the seven-model Terex range of wheeled material handlers, according to the press release. It is equipped with a main boom and stick arrangement, which gives a maximum outreach of up to 59.7 feet and an orange-peel grab for sorting and handling.  It also features a hydraulic elevating cab, giving the operator a clear view around the loading area and into trucks and hoppers.

Most recently, Terex installed another new TM350 at Grays, to work alongside an existing Terex TM1804MI.

Anthony Leeman, who runs the Grays operation, says, “Our family business has always used Terex material handlers, so our use of them speaks for itself.” He adds, “What we like is that the machines are built specifically as materials handlers to withstand the rigours of continuous hard work. As well as being robustly built with a strong performance, one of the features which appeals to us is that they are fully up to date, without being over-complicated, which is what contributes to their reliability.”
