Kalamazoo, Michigan-based Schupan & Sons Inc. has been recognized by the city commission of Kalamazoo for reaching the 50 years in business milestone in 2018.
According to an online report from television station WMMT, the company was recognized for “50 years of service to the community” by the Kalamazoo City Commission at a mid-July meeting.
The TV station quotes Schupan & Sons owner Mark Schupan as saying, “Our business philosophy has been pretty much [that] there’s nothing as clever as honesty and sincerity, and that’s worked for us.” He also credited the hard work of his employees, according to WMMT.
Founded by Nelson Schupan in 1968, Schupan & Sons now has three Kalamazoo-based divisions: Schupan Industrial Recycling, Schupan Beverage Container Recycling and Schupan Aluminum and Plastic Sales. The Industrial Recycling division also operates a location in Elkhart, Indiana, while the Beverage Container division has additional locations in Grand Rapids and Wixom, Michigan. The Aluminum and Plastic Sales division has additional sites in Dayton and Toledo, Ohio.
