Representatives from I. Schumann & Co. and the local teamsters union have reached a tentative agreement, ending a 12-day strike on March 17.
Schumann, based in the Cleveland area, agreed to remain in the Union’s health and pension plans and pay increases in contributions to the plans. The company also agreed to pay modest waste increases and implement a wage incentive program.
Additionally, the two parties were successful in addressing non-economic issues with respect to job transfers and work assignments.
The Teamsters Union, local 422, agreed to a 20-month contract to address Schumann’s concerns regarding the pension plan.
Schumann & Co. buys and processes scrap metals such as copper, brass, and bronze and manufactures copper-based alloys from its Bedford facility.
