Oppat succeeds Raphael Barth, who left Scholz in September 2014.
Additionally, Oppat will be responsible for implementing the company’s new organizational structure worldwide. The Scholz Group reported sales of 3.75 billion euros in 2013, has about 6,000 employees, operates 700 trucks, 568 excavators and has 100 affiliates worldwide.
Prior to taking the post with Scholz, Oppat worked for the international consulting firm Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, which helped implement Scholz’s restructuring program. During his time with Roland Berger, Oppat took the lead on designing the restructuring project, which began in 2013.
Because of this history Scholz says that Oppat is an ideal person to execute the company’s new strategy.
Oliver Scholz, CEO of Scholz Holding GmbH, says, "With Dr. Kay Oppat we not only gain a manager with extensive technology and process experience, but also a proven Scholz expert, who in the past two years has been a valuable contributor to the realignment of our group."
“I am looking forward to the new challenge in an exciting company Notwithstanding the continuing difficult market environment, I am convinced that the Scholz Group will return through the realignment of its business model on a sustainable road to success,” says Oppat.
