The United Kingdom-based information technology firm SCC has introduced a product that will allow companies to dispose of their obsolete electronics in what the company says is a safe and secure manner.
The company, a large independent technology provider, is releasing its Secure IT Box, which enables organizations to safely and securely recycle obsolete electronics.
The launch follows SCC's Green IT Box, which allows companies to dispose of obsolete electronics while remaining in full compliance with current British and European regulations.
The addition of the Secure IT Box is a response to customers who have sought a tamper proof, highly secure version of the service designed to fulfill the requirements of IT departments where security is a high priority.
"The response to our original Green IT Box has been fantastic, and we saw there was also demand for a highly secure version of this service and so we have moved quickly to address that need," says Jon Sansom, director of SCC’s recycling facility.
The container is manufactured with high-strength plastic. SCC notes that once the item is placed in the Secure IT Box, it is impossible to remove without security keys. Once the containers are filled, the containers are collected by authorized personnel and transported direct to SCC's recycling facility.
SCC adds that 90 percent of all equipment placed in the Secure IT Box are recycled.
"The Secure IT Box system takes the pressure off organizations who remain committed to corporate environmental responsibility, but have limited resources to work through various compliance issues, while also guaranteeing important security requirements are fully met. Put simply, we believe it's the most cost-effective, safe, straight-forward and green recycling option on the market today," Sansom adds.
SCC's 50,000-square-foot recycling facility in the United Kingdom offers a range of refurbishment, re-marketing and data disposal services.
