Holmen has acquired 38 percent of Llau Redmat, a French recovered paper company. The purchase price is around $3.5 million.
According to the company, the acquisition will reinforce the supply of recovered fiber for the company’s 100 percent recycled-content newsprint mill in Spain. The mill, Papelera Peninsular, also receives recovered fiber from other Holmen facilities in Spain and Portugal.
Llau Redmat has operations in southern France. Papelera Peninsular was acquired by Holmen in 2000. The mill has a capacity of around 170,000 metric tons.
Holmen Paper is a business area within the Holmen Group. The company has paper mills throughout Europe. The company has a total production capacity of around 1.8 million metric tons.
