The City of San Jose, Calif., is offering a community electronics recycling event Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event will take place at the City of San Jose parking lot on the corner of Taylor and San Pedro St. It is billed as an opportunity for small businesses or home offices to recycle their outdated computer electronics. No televisions or household appliances will be accepted.
The first 300 vehicles to arrive will be able to recycle up to four items for free, including one monitor and any combination of CPUs, printers or fax machines. Additional monitors can be recycled for $10 each, while other items will cost $5 a peice. (Those bringing equipment after the initial 300 vehicles are accepted will have similar fees assessed.)
The event is being co-sponsored by Hewlett Packard, along with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (who will provide refreshments), electronics recycler United DataTech, the City of San Jose and the San Jose Chamber of Commerce. Additional information is available by calling (408) 998-0700.
