The Spanish multinational paper company SAICA has purchased the Italian company Centroplast SpA, which is a manufacturer of flexible packaging products. By acquiring Centroplast, SAICA further diversifies its operations from its paper-based business to flexible packaging.
In addition to a presence in Italy, the Centroplast Group has operations in Luxembourg.
According to news reports, the acquisition will make it possible for SAICA to continue developing in the flexible packaging sector and provide a wider range of products and services to its customers.
"This is an acquisition that is allowing us to gain a foothold in the flexible packaging market together with a leading player. The investment has been made thinking in the long term and the potential development of this sector," assures company President Ramón Alejandro.
SAICA Group is a manufacturer of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard. The company is divided into three main divisions: SAICA’s paper division has four mills in Spain, France and United Kingdom housing seven paper machines; the company’s Natur division has more than 50 paper collection/recycling sites, which are in Spain, Portugal, France and United Kingdom; and SAICA’s Packaging Division has 43 corrugating plants in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and U.K.
