Houston-based Safety Vision, a provider of mobile video solutions, has introduced SafetyTrax, a web-based fleet management solution that combines its technology with technology from Rice Lake Weighing Systems, Rice Lake, Wis., and Pressure Pro, a Harrisonville, Mo.-based company specializing in tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
According to a press release, the three companies partnered to offer the fleet operations industry a “feature-rich interoperable solution that is currently unlike any other on the market.” The SafetyTrax web-based application features GPS, real-time data and advanced reporting features including breadcrumb capabilities, truck routes, stop durations and speeding variations which are available for download for six months.
The press release states the solution results in “tangible return on investment for fleets through fuel savings, extended tire life, reduced downtime and improved driver performance.”
Trouble alerts and data from both PressurePro’s TPMS systems and Rice Lake’s weight measuring systems are routed through the SafetyTrax GPS location modem using cellular-only technology. According to the press release, this connects to the fleet owner’s protected account through the SafetyTrax website. Truck identification, speed, location and route direction are shown on street level maps anywhere in the country, along with any TPMS or weight alerts.
Global mapping will be available using a satellite-only modem. Live vehicle look-in is also available with use of a Safety Vision mobile digital video recorder.
“This collaboration of fleet monitoring technologies results in significant ROI and allows for action in real-time – a necessity for commercial trucking fleets,” says Terry Leiby, director of marketing for SafetyTrax by Safety Vision.
According to Leiby, Safety Vision’s SafetyTrax increases driver productivity by an average of 29 percent, decreases driver overtime requests by 12 percent and increases fuel savings by 8 percent.
“Our solution is critical for managing equipment, route and fuel efficiency, safety and delivery times and monitoring axle weight and tire wear,” adds Leiby.
Phillip Zaroor, president and CEO of PressurePro states, “This solution provides fleets with information and tools needed to address problematic issues prior to them becoming inefficiencies or fines.”
Tom Kendall, Rice Lake’s director of strategic accounts on-board weighing says, “Theft of payload is a multi-billion dollar problem for fleet operators worldwide. This system adds a new level of security for cargo transport, in addition to the element of safety provided by overload warning, load shifting, and tire pressure monitoring.”
