The San Angelo Friends of the Environment (SAFE Recycling Center), San Angelo, Texas, will permanently close on April 22, 2018, after 28 years of operation.
According to an online article on the San Angelo Live website, SAFE has indicated it will reorganize its operations, narrowing its services to focus on providing education to the public, schools, businesses and counties in the region.
SAFE Recycling Center was formed to promote recycling and environmental awareness in the San Angelo area. In 2004, SAFE moved the recycling center to its current location, which allowed the nonprofit to expand the types of materials that could be recycled as well to hold periodic hazardous waste material cleanup drives and electronic scrap recycling collection events.
