Sabert Corp., a Sayreville, New Jersey-based packaging provider with a global presence, has appointed Paul McCann as its new CEO, effective immediately.

McCann brings to Sabert more than 25 years of experience in the packaging and process industries. In his new role, McCann will lead all aspects of Sabert's global business operations and strategy and will oversee the company's North American, European and Asia-Pacific business units and supply chain operations.

Sabert founder and CEO Albert Salama will shift into a new role as executive board chair and work with McCann to ensure a smooth transition to continue the company’s growth trajectory and market leadership position, according to Sabert Corp.

In addition to emphasizing the recyclability and sustainability aspects of several types of packaging it offers, Sabert Corp. also operates the Nuvida plastics recycling facility in Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, which accepts postconsumer plastic scrap for reprocessing.

"We are thrilled to welcome Paul McCann as Sabert’s new CEO,” Salama says. “Paul is an accomplished leader whose blend of packaging industry expertise, financial acumen, operational background and international market experience make him uniquely qualified to guide Sabert into our next chapter of innovation and growth.”

McCann joins Sabert from Atlanta-based Graphic Packaging International, where he served most recently as a senior vice president, leading the company's foodservice division.

Other companies McCann has worked for include Solo Cup Co., Smurfit Stone Container Corp., and Monsanto Corp., in positions involving procurement, supply chain and operations and general management. He also has international experience, having previously been based in Shanghai and in Geneva, Switzerland.

“It is an honor to serve as the CEO of this outstanding company,” McCann says. “I look forward to working with Albert, the leadership team and Sabert’s talented global workforce to further the company’s legacy of bringing value to its customers and continuing to drive innovation within the food packaging industry.”

Sabert Corp. operates North American facilities in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, Texas and Virginia as well as manufacturing facilities in Belgium, China, Poland and the United Kingdom.
