New firm designed to provide producer responsibility compliance services

Ryse Solutions sets up shop in Burlington, Ontario.

Burlington, Ontario-based Ryse Solutions Inc. founder and CEO Emmie Leung says the firm has been created to function as “Canada’s first fully integrated Producer Responsibility Organization.”

Leung says Ryse Solutions will offer “compliance services and material recovery solutions and advice under one umbrella.” She indicates the company has been created to deliver integrated solutions to producers, manufacturers, packaging suppliers, importers, distributors and retailers of products and packaging materials that are obligated under producer responsibility regulations in North America.

“Ryse Solutions is unmatched in this space,” states Leung. “It is distinct from other producer responsibility organizations because we have the experience and direct access to a well-established, end-of-life product and packaging management infrastructure through partnerships with Emterra Group, Circular Polymers Group, Emterra Tire Recycling and other organizations.”

In addition to regulatory compliance, the new company says it can help its customers identify and meet their own recycling and sustainability targets.

Ryse Solutions cites Ontario’s looming used tire regulation, set to take effect in 2019, as an example of changes in producer responsibility policy framework pushing companies to look at how they conduct their businesses in a more sustainable way – reducing and reusing material inputs and external outputs – while complying with regulatory obligations.

“Ryse Solutions has been established to work with organizations to help them meet their growing regulatory and supply-chain compliance requirements and to create strategic partnerships across the circular economy value chain,” says Gordon Day, a vice president with the firm. “Ontario’s new tire regulation contemplates and provides the opportunity for producers to retain the services of a producer responsibility organization to assist them in meeting their obligations starting 2019.

Using the in-house tire hauling and processing services of Emterra Tire Recycling, Ryse Solutions says it will be able to help Ontario tire producers achieve their service and target requirements. “We are committed to making the process seamless and secure for our customers,” adds Day. “Together, we will work with our clients to find the best solutions possible, so they can continue to grow their businesses.”

The company’s news release states its staff has more than 50 years of experience in circular economy services, including the design, implementation and management of a number of producer compliance programs covering a range of materials including tires, paper products and packaging, electronic scrap and batteries for more than 50 companies in Canada and the United States.
