Confidential shredding firm Russell Richardson, based in Attercliffe, near Sheffield, in the United Kingdom, has adorned one of its shredding trucks with holiday lights as part of a fundraising campaign for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The Children’s Hospital Charity (TCHC) National Elf Service fundraising campaign runs throughout December 2017.

The illuminated truck will be staging a charity shredding event in mid-December, and nine of the firm’s collection and shredding trucks will be accepting donations through Dec. 22, 2017. The trucks run routes in South, East, West and North Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in England.

Russell Richardson indicates it has been supporting TCHC for three years and has raised more than £5,000 ($6,690).

In 2017, marketing manager Emma Moorhouse ran the Sheffield 10K with the charity’s Team Theo to raise £600 ($803), which was matched by Russell Richardson Managing Director Jonathan Richardson. For the second year in a row, the company is sponsoring one of the giant illuminated snowflakes on the walls of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

“We’re very proud to have one of only four stand-alone children’s hospitals in Sheffield, and we support its charity as often as we can,” says Moorhouse.

In December, Moorehouse says, Russell Richardson “will be offering to shred personal confidential waste from all our customers and their staff in exchange for donations to the National Elf Service campaign, which helps a great cause but also is our way of keeping people safe from fraud this season.”

Fleet maintenance and identity specialists Ambassador Motor Company in Sheffield helped decorate the glowing truck, which will be driven by Russell Richardson operator Brian Cuppitt, dressed in elf gear as often as his duties allow.

Russell Richardson is running a social media campaign and asking everyone who spots one of the festive trucks to tweet the company using the hashtag #RRpudding. Dec. 18, a truck-spotter will be drawn out of a hat and will receive a Christmas hamper.

Russell Richardson, which recently won gold for Environmental Commitment at the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards and is in line for a second environmental award in the Sheffield Chamber Awards on Dec. 7, works nationally. Clients include the head office of the Formula One Grand Prix team, numerous police forces, motor giants and thousands of small and medium companies, according to the firm.

The £2 million ($2.67 million) company operates what it calls the Sheffield City Region’s only shredding plant, which deals with up to 200 metric tons weekly of scrap paper, plus commercially sensitive, branded, counterfeit or faulty products, at the rate of 7 metric tons per hour.

The illuminated truck will be staging its charity shred at the Coffee and Mince Pies networking event at Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Genesis Business Park in Rotherham.

Russell Richardson is a family business established in 1978 by current managing director Jonathan Richardson’s father Russell. Russell Richardson built the shredding plant and, in 2003, added four mobile off-site shredding vehicles to its fleet of 11 collection trucks. The company also engages in product, uniform and electronic equipment destruction, plus document archiving.
