Cincinnati-based Rumpke Waste & Recycling has made it on the 2023 US Best Managed Companies list, which is sponsored by New York-based Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal.

Deloitte and The Wall Street Journal released the list in early May, and the 2023 list features 56 U.S. private companies that demonstrated excellence in four key categories, including strategic planning, operational execution, commitment to their people and fostering a dynamic culture as well as strong governance and financials. Of the 56 honorees, 17 have been recognized as Gold Standard winners, a special designation that celebrates companies that have ranked on the list for at least four consecutive years.

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is one of the 17 companies that received the Gold Standard this year.

“This award confirms Rumpke’s progress toward its mission to deliver exceptional waste and recycling solutions to our customers and communities through a commitment to safety, service, the environment and the growth of our people,” says Bill Rumpke Jr., Rumpke’s President and CEO. “This is an award that acknowledges Rumpke’s allegiance to our core values of teamwork and quality. It recognizes the exceptional insights of our leaders and the work of our teams.”

According to a news release from Deloitte, a panel of independent judges reviewed applications to select the 2023 honorees.

“This year’s honorees span multiple industries and geographies but have one thing in common—they’ve developed their own unique recipe for success. One that has not only propelled their organization forward, but also has positively contributed to society,” says Wolfe Tone, vice chair of US Deloitte Private leader, Deloitte LLP. “Deloitte has the distinct pleasure of being able to commend and celebrate their efforts, stories and the teams who make it all possible.”

Rumpke Waste & Recycling employs nearly 4,000 environmental experts who service millions of customers across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia. The company operates 14 landfills and 13 recycling centers.
