A test of an asphalt mix using recycled tires on Colorado Springs, Colo., roads has shown promising results, according to a report in the Colorado Springs Gazette (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
City contractors applied the mix to sections of three roads in the city, according to the report. The resulting noise levels have dropped 3 to 4 decibels.
Approximately 6,200 tons of rubberized asphalt were used at a cost of about $438,000.
