New York Rubber Recycling, a subsidiary of PermaLife Products, is expanding its tire recycling operation in Rotterdam, N.Y. The project should boost the number of tires handled by the company from 3 million a year to 4 million a year.
The expansion will include the installation of some cryogenic equipment. “With the equipment we will be able to meet the growing market demand,” said Rick Kelly, director of New York Rubber Recycling.
The project received a $500,000 grant from the New York State Environmental Investment Program. New York Rubber will spend close to $850,000 on the project.
Kelly adds that the company is seeking strong growth for the end markets it produces, especially recycled rubber for athletic fields and playgrounds.
