Steel Dynamics CEO Joins Rubber Innovator’s Board

Busse joins board of Indiana-based rubber recycling company.

Rubber Innovators LLC, Fort Wayne, Ind., has announced that Keith Busse, chairman and CEO of Steel Dynamics Inc., Fort Wayne, has joined the company’s board of directors.

“Keith is a world-class CEO and entrepreneur, and we look forward to benefiting from his insights and experience as a member of Rubber Innovators’ board,” says Bill Berghoff, president of Rubber Innovators. “As we move to the next phase of our scrap-tire reclamation venture, Keith brings keen business intelligence and a hard-fought wisdom to our board discussions.”
Busse says, “Rubber Innovators is an attractive young enterprise with the potential to revolutionize the scrap-tire business worldwide. I am excited to join this dynamic team and look forward to working closely with Bill and the board during the next phase of Rubber Innovators’ growth.”
Rubber Innovators, founded about five years ago, has developed a method that converts whole rubber tires directly into specialty asphalt extenders, elastomeric compounds, high-carbon steel and other distinct end-use products. According to Rubber Innovators, its process is able to convert more than 95 percent of a tire’s original components into commodity-grade end products that meet existing specifications for sale in multiple markets.
Beyond the market for scrap tires, Rubber Innovators says it has identified opportunities to recover end-use products from other types of scrap, including plastics and asphalt shingles.
