The International Mulch Company, (IMC) St. Louis, has introduced Rubberific Mulch and NuPlay, two landscaping materials made from 100 percent recycled truck tires.
Designed to look like wood mulch for private home landscaping, Rubberific Mulch can last for up to 10 years without fading, rotting or compacting, according to a release from IMC. NuPlay is a thicker, chunk-rubber material designed for use in playgrounds, trails or larger commercial applications.
IMC says the rubber mulch’s longevity cuts down on the time and money individuals spend on replacing mulch every year.
Mike Miller, IMC president, says that using rubber as ground cover on playgrounds can increase safety by adding cushioning and decreasing the risks of splinters and cuts associated with traditional wood mulch.
