RPTA Names Schaffer Executive Director

The nonprofit Recycled Paperboard Technical Association comprises paper mills that manufacture products from at least 90 percent recovered fiber.

The Recycled Paperboard Technical Association (RPTA) has named Amy Schaffer its new executive director, effective Feb. 16, 2012. In the position, Schaffer will oversee all aspects of the organization and work with the RPTA’s board of trustees to set and implement the association’s course.

“In today’s competitive environment, manufacturers of recycled paperboard products face unique challenges and opportunities. We are pleased to welcome Amy Schaffer to our team. She brings a wealth of industry, trade association and government expertise that makes her exceptionally qualified to lead our association,” says Tom Stigers, RPTA’s president and senior vice president of coated mill operations for RockTenn.

Prior to being named RPTA’s executive director Schaffer worked for the EPA, the American Forest & Paper Association and Weyerhaeuser Co.

“I am excited to be joining RPTA. I look forward to working with RPTA’s members who are the leaders of the recycled paperboard industry,” says Schaffer.
