Royal Oak Recycling of Royal Oak, Michigan, has named Ed Mamou president and Craig Reeves as vice president. They bring a combined 30 years of experience with the company and 50 collective years of industry experience to their new positions.
Mamou formerly served as vice president, while Reeves was director of sales and operations.
Formerly known as Royal Oak Waste Paper & Metal Co. and acquired in 1992 by Mamou’s father, Habib Mamou, the company’s former president, Royal Oak Recycling is an immigrant-owned and family-owned full-service national provider of customized, turnkey waste management solutions.
As vice president, Mamou and his team increased sales by more than 50 percent; expanded the company from three to 10 markets nationally; created more than 200 new jobs; spearheaded the implementation of a new national plastic and electronics recycling program in 2006; rebranded the company in 2007; and managed the sale of one of the firm’s key sites to private equity in 2013.
“Royal Oak Recycling is one of the largest independent recyclers in the US providing landfill-free solutions to its national customer base,” he says. “Established as a family business in 1991, we continue to provide personal service to our national customer base while maintaining our core family values.”
A Fifteen-year industry veteran, Reeves joined Royal Oak Recycling in 2014. He served seven years as the director of sales and operations, playing a critical role in introducing and fostering longstanding key customer relationships and expanding the business’ national footprint into new marketplaces. Royal Oak says Reeves’ expertise has been critical in contributing to the hands-on, real-time and customer-focused approach that Royal Oak Recycling says it prides itself on.
“As a company that has proven to be a reliable partner for each and every one of its clients from day one, we are confident that our growth in numbers and companywide success has only just begun,” Reeves says. “The relationships we have with our trusted customers are and always have been our top priority.”
In less than 10 years under Mamou and Reeves’ leadership, Royal Oak Recycling has grown its employee count from 30 to 250 employees, increased total sales by 300 percent and expanded its service area locations from three to 10 markets throughout Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Royal Oak Recycling’s expertise and capabilities include processing, baling, grinding, hauling and brokering a wide array of paper, cardboard, plastics, metals and electronics. With its fully owned and operated vehicle fleet and specialized recycling equipment, the company says it can process and ship more than 1 million tons annually.
