Recovered fiber and plastic scrap recycling company River Valley Paper Co., Akron, Ohio, is relocating its headquarters location from 210,000-square-feet of leased space in the city to a 132,000-square-foot building the company has purchased in Akron. John Sharp, owner and president of River Valley Paper, says he hopes to complete the relocation by June 2012.
While the company is moving into a smaller space, Sharp points out its current space, with narrow hallways and lower ceilings, was not conducive to the company’s operations. Sharp says he spent about five years looking for a building that could boost River Valley’s business.
Among the features that were sought were higher ceilings, which will allow the company to store more material, says Sharp. The new facility also will have a fully operational rail siding, allowing the company to ship its material to sources throughout the country.
Sharp says River Valley will be seeking to purchase equipment, including baling equipment and a sorting system, to be installed at the new facility. The company also expects to transition some of its existing equipment to the new facility. Sharp adds that the company also will be transferring some of its existing equipment to one of its other facilities, which are located in Kalamazoo, Mich., and Jacksonville, Fla.
