RISI event examines Asian containerboard, OCC markets

Seventh version of annual conference is Dec. 5-7 in Shenzhen, China.

The 7th RISI International Recycled Fiber and Containerboard Conference scheduled for Dec. 5-7 in Shenzhen, China, is poised to provide insights into the containerboard production and recovered paper markets in Asia as they head toward 2019.

The event is being held at the JW Marriott Hotel in the Futian Business District of Shenzhen, located approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Shenzhen’s border with Hong Kong.

The conference, organized by United States-based forest products information services provider RISI, has been designed to address several topics of interest to containerboard producers and recyclers of old corrugated containers (OCC) and other fiber grades. Those topics include:

  • the gap between supply and demand in China for OCC and how to resolve raw material supply issues;
  • how paper mills in China are adjusting their purchasing and supply chain strategies, including via merger and acquisition activity;
  • interpretations of policy influence and analyses of supply and demand trends in the market;
  • global and China-specific market outlooks and cost benchmark issues presentations from RISI:
  • the influence of North America’s and Europe’s recovered paper supply market on China; and
  • the status of other export markets for OCC in Southeast Asia (including Vietnam and Malaysia).

Details on how to register for the early December event can be found on this web page.
