RISI has announced that Carol Roberts, senior vice president, Industrial Packaging, International Paper (IP), will deliver the keynote speech at the 13th International Containerboard Conference (ICC). The event will take place November 12-14, 2008 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile in
Roberts became the senior manager responsible for one of the largest containerboard/corrugated box system in North America and globally, following IP’s acquisition of Weyerhaeuser’s containerboard and packaging assets in early August.
Other newly announced speakers include Glenn Landau, vice president and general manager, IP’s containerboard business; Michael Harwood, deputy chief executive officer, Pratt Industries (USA); William J. Sweeney, executive vice president, Packaging Corp. of America; Mark Weintraub, senior vice president, Buckingham Research; Bob Kinstrey, director of process engineering, Jacobs Engineering; and Russ Swanson, director of paper purchasing, Sara Lee.

This year’s event also includes a boxboard track, a first for ICC, according to event organizers. This track will focus on “Boxboard Dynamics in a Changing Global Marketplace” and features a CEO/Executive Panel. Drew Miller, senior news editor and conference co-chair, noted, “We added the boxboard track in response to increased interest in this area from past and prospective conference attendees.
