The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Office of Compliance & Inspection, has notified Independent Sand & Gravel Inc. that the government agency has reasonable grounds to believe the company has violated certain statutes and administrative regulations under the DEM’s jurisdiction.
The claim surrounds the cost of cleaning up the former Global Waste Recycling site.
According to local press reports Global has removed around 7,000 tons of the construction and demolition debris from the site. Workers are removing the material quarterly and it's being deposited at the Johnston Central Landfill.
The next hearing is rescheduled Friday, April 5.
