The waste hauling and recycling company Rizzo Environmental Services (RES), headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, has acquired Canton Waste Recycling (CWR), a Canton, Michigan-based waste and recycling company.
“One great family-run waste hauler is joining with another great family-run company today,” says Chuck Rizzo, CEO of RES. “The Denski family (former owners of CWR) has built a solid company with a great reputation,” Rizzo continues. “Like Rizzo, they are a Michigan-based family company priding themselves on providing their customers with value.
“With this acquisition, we will continue to provide the great service Canton Waste Recycling customers have come to expect for almost 80 years,” he adds.
CWR is the municipal waste hauler for the Charter Township of Canton and has a commercial waste and recycling business.
According to RES, members of the Denski family will remain active with the company, overseeing Canton Waste Recycling’s operations.
RES, a part of the New York City-based private equity firm Kinderhook Industries, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The company says it is the largest municipal waste hauler in the Metro Detroit area. With the addition of Canton Township, RES now serves more than 410,000 households in 39 communities in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties weekly.
“We have significantly expanded our base of operation in western Wayne County,” Rizzo says. “We just acquired Nelson Paper Recycling in Romulus (Michigan) this past January, making us the largest recycling company in the state. With today’s acquisition, we will now be able to base trucks closer to our customers in western Wayne County. This means better prices and better service for both our residential and our business customers.”
