Kodiak Island Borough Alaska Solid Waste Collection Services
The Kodiak Island Borough, located on the Island of Kodiak in the Alaskan Archipelago, is currently seeking a qualified contractor to provide waste management services to include residential, commercial, and drop box collection services as well as future recycling services. The contract is for a minimum initial seven year term with the possibility to add an additional three years. Demolition Services

Contractors may be required to provide demolition, and/or removal of a wide variety of structures, structural components and/or site elements on either public facilities or private properties. Scope of work may include, but not limited to, machine and/or hand demolition; site processing of debris for recycling; acquiring permits; performing hazardous waste removal; providing proper fencing and barricades; erection and removal of canopies; traffic control; excavation; compaction; grading; backfill; and import and/or export of fill material. These specifications require the provision of all labor and materials to design, fabricate and supply a complete baling system to process paper, plastic and metal recyclables separated from the solid waste stream.
B. Seller to provide one automatic two (2) ram baler for the densification of OCC, ONP, mixed paper, ferrous, aluminum, and plastic containers as indicated herein.
The baler shall be capable of continuous automatic operation without plugging or jamming with a continuous non-uniform feed rate of material. The baler shall have the ability to vary the feed rate of material. The baler must perform as a minimum to the specifications shown below. Variations from these specifications may be considered. Such variations shall be plainly marked, clearly stated and explained in detail.
Household Battery Recycling
Kent County, Michigan
Kent County, Michigan; through its Department of Public Works (DPW), has a Household Battery Collection and Disposal Program which currently generates approximately 6,000 pounds of non alkaline batteries per year. The program collects household batteries from a number of drop-off sites scattered in and around the Grand Rapids Metropolitan area. In addition, household batteries are also collected through expanded curbside recycling service covering all urbanized areas of the County.
Scrap Cast Iron, White Goods and Yard Scrap
City of Rochester, NY
The City of Rochester will establish a contract for the removal of surplus cast iron (fire hydrants), yard scrap (miscellaneous metal), and white goods (stoves, washers, dryers). This contract is to establish a per net ton price for each group. Cast Iron and White Goods will be delivered to the local vendor's door and yard scrap will be picked up by the vendor at various City locations. This contract will require the bidder to have a scrap facility within five (5) miles of the City limits, complete with certified scales and a scrap yard in compliance with local zoning laws.

This procurement is for the purchase of all recyclable materials from the Bureau of Census in Jeffersonville, IN. This procurement is a set aside for small business concerns only. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 562111 with a size standard of $11.5 million. This will be a one (1) year contract with four (4), one-year options. Document Destruction Ellenwood GA

Agency: National Archives and Records Administration
The National Archives and Records Administration, NARA, intends to award a contract to acquire secure document destruction and recycle services for records that are ready for destruction, and to sell the resulting paper by-product in order to generate revenue for NARA. All work must be performed under the terms and conditions of the contract and in accordance with the performance Work Statement, PWS. This requirement is designed to destroy Federal Records according to the prescribed secure document destruction standards outlined in the PWS. The recyclable paper resulting from the destruction services is Government property. The Government will retain title to the paper until the paper is transferred to a buyer.
The contractor will retain risk of loss from the time it picks paper up until the time the paper is transferred to a buyer. No minimum number of trailers per week is guaranteed. NARA will receive revenue from this sale. The sale of the paper for NARA by the contractor shall be performed at no cost. A copy of the current Department of Labor Wage Determination is attached to the solicitation. The resultant contract, at a minimum, will consist of a base period of twelve (12) months. Option periods are desired not to exceed 4 option year periods of 12 months each. The contract will contain FAR Clause 52.232-18, "Availability of Funds," to protect the Government in the event option year funding is delayed or unavailable. The same terms and conditions contained in the contract will apply to the options, if exercised.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 561990 and the Small Business Size Standard is $6.5 Million. Copies of the RFP, which will be available on or about 16 March 2009 may be obtained through the Federal Business Opportunities web site at www.fedbizopps.gov. It is the Offeror’s responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the solicitation and amendments, if any.
