Republic Announces Price Increase

Republic Technologies International LLC announced price increases ranging from $20 to $35 per ton for all of its products. The company made the announcement earlier this week.

The increases are effective with February 4 shipments.

"These price increases are necessary and appropriate in light of the clearly inadequate pricing structure that exists in the market today," said Joseph Lapinsky, Republic's president and CEO. The increases range from $20 per ton for carbon hot-rolled and semi-finished bar, to $35 per ton for cold-finished alloy and leaded bar and wire.

Republic Technologies International, based in Fairlawn, Ohio, is the nation's largest producer of high-quality steel bars. With 4,300 employees and 2000 sales of nearly $1.3 billion. Republic operates plants in Canton, Massillon, and Lorain, Ohio; Beaver Falls, Pa.; Chicago and Harvey, Ill.; Gary, Ind.; Lackawanna, N.Y.; Cartersville, Ga.; and Hamilton, Ont. The company's products are used in the automotive, agricultural, aerospace, off-highway, industrial machinery and energy industries.
