Renew Blue to locate in Texas town

The Sherman (Texas) Economic Development Corp. has announced that Renew Blue Industries will be locating a nonhazardous medical waste plastics operation in Sherman, Texas. The facility is expected to be open by the first quarter of 2015.

Scott Connell, president of SEDCO, says, “Sherman is thrilled to welcome Renew Blue as the newest member of our growing community. Not only will this create jobs in Sherman, but we are also excited to have a company that is committed to preserving our environment by filling an underserved need in recycling.”

According to local press reports, SEDCO’s board of directors and Renew Blue have signed an economic development performance agreement that includes a $400,000 incentive grant to be paid in three installments. Incentives will be dispersed in full to Renew Blue based on company performance criteria outlined in the agreement to help offset investments of $150,000 in building renovation and $1 million in manufacturing equipment.

Renew Blue recycles polypropylene plastic cloth into plastic pellets. Renew Blue also will be recycling other noncontaminated polypropylene plastics, according to the Frisco Enterprise website.

On its website, Renew Blue says that when its initial processing center is operational it will provide a “complete turnkey solution with no additional third party facilitators needed.” Plastics the company will accept include blue wrap, saline bottles and uncontaminated basins from hospitals and surgical centers throughout the Dallas metropolitan area.
