Remondis acquires three recycling plants in Poland

Remondis, headquartered in Germany, has acquired van Gansewinkel of Poland. The acquisition agreement was signed at the beginning of June and the transaction is subject to approval.Van Gansewinkel had previously been owned by the Dutch van Gansewinkel Group.

Under the terms of the agreement, Warsaw-based Remondis Sp. z o.o. will assume van Gansewinkel Group’s recycling and public sector services in Poland. The company generates annual sales of more than 100 million Polish zloty (PLN), ($26 million) employs 320 people and runs three recycling plants.

Van Gansewinkel operates in the south of Poland where it has branches in Krakow, Ruda Slaska, Tarnow, Olawa and Legnica. Remondis reports it is planning to invest in the company in order to strengthen and expand its business activities.

Remondis has been operating in Poland since 1992 where it has built up a network of companies and branches offering a wide range of recycling and water services in more than 40 towns and cities across the country. Each year, it handles around 1.5 million metric tons of recyclable and residual materials. Thanks to the acquisition of van Gansewinkel, it will be able to extend its business activities in the Lower Silesian market.

Remondis is a privately owned water and recycling company that operates across four continents, including 24 European countries, and in 2014 had annual sales of €6.4 billion ($7.05 billion).
