The board of directors of the Washington-based Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) has approved revisions to single and dual inbound residential specifications and the preamble to the Guidelines for Paper Stock.

The board approved the revisions Feb. 12 and officially announced the changes March 9.

For inbound residential single- and dual-stream specifications, ReMA’s Plastics Division and MRF Committee approved the addition of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) rigid can and bottle carriers.

The plastic listed on both the single- and dual-stream specifications now includes polyethylene terephthalate, HDPE, polypropylene, plastic bottles, jugs, jars and containers; bulky rigid plastics like crates, buckets, totes and baskets; tubs and lids; and HDPE rigid can and bottle carriers.

The inbound dual-stream residential specifications also include cartons.

Additionally, the preamble to the “Guidelines for Paper Stock: PS-2026” includes updates in its purchase agreement, fulfillment by the seller and buyer and miscellaneous practice segments.

Per the rules governing procedures for the addition, amendment or withdrawal of specifications, ReMA says a public comment period regarding these most recent changes will remain open for 30 days beginning March 9.
