Paper Week 2006 programming highlights include: Annual Paper Week Luncheon: Ed Gillespie, former Chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Terry McAuliffe, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will draw on the similarities and differences of their political experiences while discussing the nation's current political climate. Pulp and Paper General Session: The Future of Paper-Based Communication - The View From the Stakeholders. Industry stakeholders will offer their views on innovations that will enable the industry to maintain a viable role in the dynamic world of advertising and communications. Packaging General Session: Fiber-Based Packaging Trends - Meeting Expectations and Delivering the Goods. Packaging decision makers will discuss opportunities and challenges in meeting a host of fiber-based packaging needs. Recycling General Session: Worldwide and Curbside Recycling - Drivers to the 55 Percent Goal. Participants will explore current recovered fiber trends at the global and local levels for recovered fiber and discuss industry efforts to reach the 55 percent recovery goal by 2012. Additionally, the 2006 AF&PA Recycling Awards will recognize outstanding individual, business, community and school recycling efforts. Seminar: Understanding Forest Certification. Top executives from the two leading certification standards, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), will engage in an interactive discussion addressing the attributes of both certification programs.
