Regain Polymers Ltd., based in a Castleford, U.K., has recently taken delivery of a new Coperion twin-screw extruder, increasing its compounding capacity to 50,000 metric tons per year.
Earlier this year, the plastics recycler expanded its geographic market with the acquisition of an Essex, U.K.-based plastics recycling company. The company also previously announced it would be investing in additional equipment. The new twin-screw extruder will be complemented by Gala’s underwater pelletizing system. The downstream equipment is designed to produce excellent pellet quality and uniformity as well as to significantly reduce any potential pellet moisture, ensuring a better end product, according to Regain.
“Preliminary work was carried out, installing a new power supply and extending the extrusion hall to accommodate the new extrusion line,” says Mark Roberts, Regain technical sales director, of the new machinery. “The twin screw extruder went into full production as planned at the start of June, increasing our extrusion capacity by 40 percent. As our strategy for 2012 is one of growth, investing in this new technology provides a significant move for Regain Polymers. Not only will the new machinery increase our volume output and our capacity to supply the market, it also ensures we are well-placed to move the business forward and achieve our growth plans for 2012.”
