Redemtech, based in Columbus, Ohio, is offering a free database designed to help companies navigate the global electronic scrap and data security regulations. The online database, available at www.redemtech.com/regulatory, provides access to information on current and pending regulations that impact decisions on managing and retiring electronic equipment.
The regulations are categorized by E-Waste, Data Security and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, specifically Section 404 provisions that require organizations to account for how idle technology is taken off their books.
The E-Waste and Data Security categories are broken down into geographic regions, including U.S. Federal and state, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The E-Waste and Data Security sections can be downloaded as PDF files.
“As governments enact more laws to address growing e-waste and data security concerns, staying abreast of relevant regulations can be a time-consuming process for a wide range of stakeholders, from IT and security to the finance, legal and compliance staffs,” says Robert Houghton, president of Redemtech. “Our database will streamline the process and help companies ensure their compliance when addressing a wide range of volatile issues, from consumer privacy breaches to financial audits and environmental sustainability.”
Redemtech also offers a free news service that provides ongoing updates about regulatory compliance, data security, electronic scrap, corporate social responsibility and other topics.
