Redemtech, Ecosys Form Canadian Joint Venture

A joint venture arrangement has been established between a U.S. based electronics handler and a Canadian company.

Redemtech Inc., a computer recycling and refurbishing firm, has formed a joint venture with the Canadian firm Ecosys Canada Inc. to help take its services to companies with operations in both countries. The arrangement was completed in late February.

Redemtech, based in Hilliard, Ohio, and Ecosys Canada, headquartered in Canada, help companies redeploy, recycle or sell off computers and information-technology equipment. Redemtech's RedemTrac system allows companies to track the process online, and builds an audit trail for the assets to protect clients from privacy and environmental liability.

Redemtech said the Ecosys Canada deal is the first of several partnerships it is pursuing to make the RedemTrac system available worldwide.

"Ecosys is a strong partner with a great reputation in Canada serving large corporations," Robert Houghton, Redemtech's president, said in a statement. "They welcomed the gains in efficiency and reliability offered by our systems and make an ideal partner for Redemtech."

The Canadian company will handle all the material in Canada for Redemtech.

Redemtech has been actively pursuing joint venture arrangements throughout the world. According to a spokeswoman for the Ohio-based company a joint venture arrangement also has been set up in Europe; another joint venture arrangement is being created in Asia, and, further down the road, the company hopes to establish a joint venture to handle the Latin American market.
