Fire breaks out at Welsh recycling facility

C&D materials ignite at Atlantic Recycling in Wentloog, Wales.

An Oct. 11 fire at a construction and demolition (C&D) and green waste materials plant in Wentloog, Wales, United Kingdom, reportedly involved some 500 tonnes of material.

According to an article  on the Wales Online website, the fire at Atlantic Recycling near Cardiff was reported on a Sunday morning and created smoke plumes “visible across the city.”

The report says approximately 500 tonnes of affected material was removed from the site but that the location contains a total of 200,000 tonnes of C&D debris and green waste.

Firefighters from at least seven departments were involved in containing the blaze, according to Wales Online.

On its website, Atlantic Recycling says it picks up and processes for recycling “mixed waste, green waste and wood waste.”
