Recycling Facility Opens on Maui

Kihei Recycling and Redemption Center accepts plastic bottles and bags, glass containers, aluminum cans, cardboard, paper bags and newspaper.

 

The $1.5 million Kihei Recycling and Redemption Center on Maui has opened, according to a report in the Honolulu Advertiser.

 

The facility was paid for with 40 percent State of Hawaii bottle bill funding, with the remaining 60 percent coming from Maui County funds, according to the report.

 

The center will accept HI-5 beverage containers, as well as plastic bottles with necks, plastic bags, glass containers, aluminum cans, clean rinsed food cans, cardboard, paper bags and newspaper.
