Recycling Conference Seeks Speakers

Event focusing on electronics recycling takes place in Austria in January 2013.

Switzerland-based ICM AG, organizer of the 12th International Electronics Recycling Congress (IERC 2013), is seeking presenters at its event. IERC 2013 has been scheduled for Jan. 16-18 in Salzburg, Austria.
 
According to ICM’s Susann Schmid, those interested in speaking should send “a short abstract with [the] key message” by July 31, 2012. Those submitting ideas for presentations also should send their resumes or CV, according to Schmid.
 
ICM says the conference is expected to attract more than 500 people and is designed to “present the newest information and challenges of the WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) recycling business.”
 
Among the topics on which presenters can focus, according to ICM, are:
 
  • How electronics manufacturing companies close the recycling loop;
  • Worldwide take-back schemes;
  • Economies of scale of WEEE recycling and future challenges;
  • Strategic metals recycling (precious metals, rare earth elements); 
  • How to recycle electronic scrap containing hazardous elements;
  • Robbery of materials and illegal exports;
  • Challenges of collection and logistics; and
  • Best available recycling technologies.
 
The event also will feature an exhibition area, cocktail receptions and a networking dinner, according to ICM. The congress also is offering plant tours in the vicinity of Salzburg.
