Presentations are being gathered by the IMA for the 59th Annual World Magnesium Conference, to be held May 19-21, 2002 at the Hotel Omni Mont-Royal in Montreal.
Program committee chairman Dr. Howard I. Kaplan, who is also a senior vice president with the Magnesium Corp. of America, Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking papers on several topics, including magnesium recycling, process developments, magnesium markets and applications for the metal.
The IMA’s annual conference is billed by the group as “the premiere forum for presenting the latest developments and issues pertaining to the global magnesium industry.”
The IMA is a trade association for magnesium’s primary producers, recyclers, foundries, fabricators, end users and suppliers.
Portions of presentations chosen will be published in the 59th Annual World Magnesium Conference Proceedings (book and CD-ROM) and provided to all registered conference attendees. Presentations at the conference will be 25 minutes in length with an allotted period for discussions.
Abstracts for presentations are due by October 1, 2001, and the program committee will make its selections and notify the authors by mid-December. Those interested in further information can contact the IMA at (703) 442-8888 or visit the association’s Web site at www.intlmag.org
