The Tri-County Solid Waste District, located in Rogers, Ark., received a single bid for its plan to expand its recycling collection program in the three county area of Northwestern Arkansas. The waste district is seeking companies that could help the municipalities in the region boost their recyclables collection levels.
While Recycle America Alliance was the only company submitting a bid to take in recyclables, Steve Parker, director of the Arkansas Waste District, said the agency has not determined whether or not to award the contract to RAA. One possibility could be to have the Waste District handle the recyclables itself. According to local press reports the district board could vote on the proposal next Thursday, Aug. 21. The Tri-County Solid Waste District is made up of three counties.
According to Parker, one of the drawbacks to the RAA proposal was that the company’s current facility is not centrally located. As part of RAA’s proposal the company said it would expand its existing facility in Rogers to allow it to take in more material.Latest from Recycling Today
