European co-operation for Accreditation evaluates RecyClass

RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification can proceed with accreditation.

RecyClass Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification has received a positive evaluation from the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) based on product certification (ISO/IEC 17065) following the European Accreditation Procedure for the Evaluation of Conformity Assessment Schemes by EA (EA-1/22). RecyClass can be used by companies to comply with EN 15343:2007 to verify and certify the origin, as well as the percentage of recycled content in plastic products and packaging.

Furthermore, the recognition will promote transparent verification and the uptake of recycled content in new products on the European market while raising awareness about the importance of verified, circular claims, RecyClass says.

“It is a clear signal to all the actors of the value chain who are searching for a reliable and credible scheme to certify the circularity of their plastic products,” says Paolo Glerean, RecyClass chairman. “This positive evaluation will bring more transparency on the market and give confidence to both downstream and end-users. We are convinced that such a robust tool will constitute major support for the companies willing to substantiate their commitment on the use of recycled plastics.”

RecyClass says its objective is to drive harmonization to advance plastics circularity in Europe and beyond.

With the positive evaluation, RecyClass certification bodies can now start the application procedure to be accredited for Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification according to ISO/IEC 17065 standard.
