Long-range price forecasts for several widely-traded recovered paper grades are now available from Moore & Associates, Atlanta.
Several new editions of the research and consulting firm’s Fore$ight reports offer long-range forecasts for old corrugated containers (OCC), old newspapers (ONP) and sorted office paper (SOP).
In its ONP forecast, the company sees prices drifting higher for clean #7 and #8 ONP through much of the five-year period, as North American recyclers continue to see fewer and smaller newspapers entering the recycling stream. Additionally, some of the potentially available ONP will be lost to a mixed residential product created at single-stream plants.
According to Moore & Associates, the five-year forecasts for all grades:
· include regional price differentials
· are based on a group of supply and demand variables; and
· are generated by computer statistical modeling employing regression analysis.
“Our forecasting experience is based on a combination of our theoretical capabilities in modeling coupled with unmatched marketplace intelligence,” the company says in a news release announcing the new Fore$ight reports.
Variables included in the five-year Moore & Associates Fore$ight model include:
· The general economy
· Mill industry operating rates (for OCC and ONP) or bleached pulp prices (for SOP)
· Global demand
· Supply in the United States
· Disposal costs
· Recovery costs; and
· Cross-grade effects.
Those seeking additional details on the reports, which are priced at $1,750 for each grade, or wishing to place an order can go to www.MARecycle.com or can call the company at (770) 518-1890.
