Reconomy, based in London, has acquired National Waste Associates through its Lincoln Waste Solutions subsidiary.
Established in 1997 and headquartered in Glastonbury, Connecticut, National Waste Associates is a waste services provider that manages 2,900 locations for multisite customers. It has long-standing relationships with large customers across many sectors, including retail, industrial services, health care and hospitality.
“Joining John Ayvas and the Lincoln Waste Solutions by Reconomy team was a natural choice and logical next step for our business,” National Waste Associates CEO Carmine Esposito says. “With its global footprint, deep expertise in waste management, industry-leading data and technology, we are now better positioned to provide a broader range of solutions and specialist services to our customers and accelerate our growth and innovation.”
In the past year, Reconomy has completed six acquisitions in the United States as it executes its strategic priorities at pace to build a material market position in North America through its Lincoln Waste Solutions subsidiary.
“To have built from scratch a top-five waste management business in North America centred around Lincoln Waste Solutions in just over a year is a remarkable achievement,” Reconomy CEO Guy Wakeley says. “We are confident that this latest acquisition will be a great addition to our rapidly growing U.S. operations and leaves us perfectly positioned to execute on our strategic priorities of attaining leading positions in our core markets, deliver superior earnings growth and help our customers decouple growth from resource use.”
Reconomy says it has been focused on executing the next phase of a growth strategy to build a material position in the United States and capitalize on the significant opportunities in the world’s largest market. According to the firm, the region produces 10 times more waste than the United Kingdom, yet has linear resource chains, low recycling rates and an over-reliance on landfill and incineration.
Based in Windsor, Connecticut, Lincoln Waste Solutions was Reconomy’s first acquisition in the United States and has become the bedrock of its North American expansion strategy. Reconomy says the addition of National Waste Associates builds on its already impressive customer base that includes hundreds of major retail and Fortune 500 clients, while further strengthening its capabilities, network and resources.
