Dell, headquartered in Round Rock, Texas, and Goodwill Industries International have added 100 Goodwill donation sites to the Reconnect computer recycling program, which provides for free drop-off of computer equipment.
The new collection sites in Delaware, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island bring the total number of Dell Reconnect sites in North America to more than 2,200.
“Since its inception, the Dell Reconnect program has created hundreds of green jobs for Goodwill employees who manage the recycling program,” says Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. “Dell Reconnect has allowed Goodwill to expand its sustainability policy and eco-assessment practices.”
The Reconnect program was launched in 2004 as a partnership between Dell and Goodwill Industries. Since its inception, Dell says the program has diverted more than 170 million pounds of electronic scrap from landfills.
