RealTime Shredding, Inc., has received approval from Underwriters Laboratories Inc. for its Self-Service Shredder.
According to RealTime, the certification is the first time that the certification came after a 15-month process of testing and evaluation by Underwriters Laboratories. The company also notes that it is the first time UL inspected a shredding kiosk designed for public access.
The UL mark indicates compliance with rigorous industry safety standards throughout North America and certifies that UL has thoroughly evaluated a product and found it to comply with all of its applicable safety requirements.
"The UL stamp of approval gives our customers one more assurance that they are purchasing a professionally built, high-quality and safe product," says Amanda Verrie, president of RealTime Shredding. Because The Self-Service Shredder is accessible to the public in many settings, it was critical to ensure safety every step of the way, she explains. "The additional scrutiny UL imposed is a great testament to the inherent design of the kiosk." UL now will continue to audit the manufacturing process for The Self-Service Shredder on a quarterly basis.
Underwriters Laboratory has developed more than 1,000 safety standards and has served as an active participant in national and international standards development. Each year, UL tests more than 19,000 types of products, and 21 billion UL marks appear in the marketplace.
