Ragn-Sells Acquires Uniscrap’s Paper Recycling Division

Uniscrap says it will focus its efforts on its metals recycling business.

Ragn-Sells Denmark A / S, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish company Ragn-Sells AB, has acquired the paper recycling division of Uniscrap, based in Denmark.

With the acquisition, Ragn-Sells says that it intends to focus on its paper and plastics recycling business in Denmark. In selling its paper division to Ragn-Sells, Uniscrap announced that it will focus on growing its metals recycling business.

In a release announcing the sale, John Pedersen, Uniscrap’s CEO, says the sale was designed to help the company streamline its operations. “It is a deliberate, strategic choice that we divest our paper operations. We've been through a bidding round in which Ragn-Sells introduced us to the most interesting set-up. The deal means that in future we can ensure our customers an optimum operation - and ultimately streamline our operations further, "says John Pedersen.

“By focusing more on our core competencies, we can handle larger volumes and perform automation. While Uniscrap is selling the paper recycling division to Ragn-Sells, the company will still be involved in handling paper and plastics.

As part of the deal, Ragn-Sells will take over Uniscrap’s paper department in Nørresundby, Denmark, and rent space in buildings at another location where Uniscrap handles paper and plastic.

Massimo Forti, deputy managing director for Ragn-Sells Denmark, says, “In cooperation with Uniscrap we establish local outbound and receiving stations. And, together with our existing sorting and reprocessing, we can now offer our complete solutions across the country.”
