The electronics recycling activities of the Recycle America Alliance, LLC, a subsidiary of Waste Management, Inc., have merited internationally recognized certifications for quality and environmental management standards
The 9001 and 14001 certifications are the first to be registered for a national electronics de-manufacturer in the United States. The certifications apply to RAA’s electronics recycling plants in Minneapolis, MN, Phoenix, AZ, Kernersville, N.C., and Humble, TX.
“These are the most important quality distinctions we can obtain in our industry, and establishes our eCycling services as a true leader,” said Steve Ragiel, President of RAA. “The very nature of what we do – recycling electronics to recover valuable commodities for re-use in new products – distinguishes our de-manufacturing operations. Achieving ISO certification for our quality and environmental management systems is further evidence of our commitment to excellence for our customers while protecting the environment for our communities.”
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications apply, respectively, to the quality of an organization’s management systems that shape its products or services or affect the environment. ISO 14001 focuses on environmental management systems and the processes in place to ensure that a company’s product or services minimize the impact on the environment during production, disposal or by pollution or the depletion of natural resources. Such certification means an independent auditor has checked that the processes influencing quality or environmental impact conform to the relevant ISO standards’ requirements.
