Recycle America Alliance LLC, a subsidiary of Waste Management Inc., Houston, has announced a new service partner to greatly enhance its remarketing capabilities in Texas and regionally for electronic products and components.
Compucycle Inc. (CI) will provide remarketing services for electronic products and components collected or managed by Recycle America Alliance (RAA) under its eCycling services in Texas and adjoining states. RAA will in turn process all non-resalable electronic scrap generated at CI’s west Houston facility. RAA will also relocate its current Houston area operation to warehouse space adjacent to the CI facility.
"RAA and CI have established a very strong business model that can be replicated around the country to support sustainable growth in the U.S. electronics recycling industry,” Kevin McCarthy, director of electronics recycling for Waste Management Inc., says. “This is a great example of two companies complementing each other’s strengths to create expanded service delivery capabilities.”
“The synergy achieved by partnering the activities of CI and RAA are an ultimate win / win,” John Hess, president of Compucycle, says. “RAA’s greatest expertise is in product acquisition and scrap processing. CI’s expertise is in processing re-useable product and marketing these in National and International markets. The partnership results in more competitive pricing for RAA’s suppliers and an excellent supply source to feed CI’s production and selling capacity.”
RAA's eCycling service is an innovative, customized approach to recycling discarded electronics, computers, televisions, communications equipment and other related waste streams. Local and state governments, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), commercial businesses and nonprofits can use a national network of drop-off centers, collection depots and regional processing centers operated by Waste Management and affiliated companies.
CompuCycle is a leader in the repair and sale of personal computers, monitors and laptops. It acquires products from large corporations and leasing companies, which it then audits and from which it removes all data prior to marketing to its extensive list of national and international customers.
Recycle America Alliance’s eCycling service, with collection and/or processing operations in more than 20 states, refers to itself as the nation’s leading coast-to-coast provider of electronics recycling. The company processes electronics collected at more than 80 recycling or disposal facilities nationwide.
It has three processing facilities in Phoenix, Houston and Minneapolis. It has service contracts with ElectroniCycle (Gardner, Mass.), E-Recycling of southern California (Paramount, Calif.), Quicksilver Recycling Services (Tampa, Fla.) and Sims Recycling Solutions (Hayward, Calif.).
