RAA will meet in Kenya this June

Recycling Association of Africa strives to connect that continent’s recycling markets with the rest of the world.

The leaders of the Recycling Association of Africa (RAA) have selected Nairobi, Kenya, as the site of the first conference by the group to be held on the continent of Africa. The RAA held an inaugural meeting in 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The RAA Recycling B2B Conference is scheduled at the Safari Park Hotel & Casino in Nairobi from June 30 to July 2.

According to the group, the conference will provide regional and global market insights to delegates from throughout Africa and beyond.

The focus of the event is metals recycling, according to the RAA, which was co-founded by veteran recyclers and traders include Salam Al Sharif of UAE-based Sharif Metals; Sayed Hussain of UAE-based Sayed Metal; Abdullah Iqbal Haji of UAE-based Ala Group; and Shemir Omar Yakub of Nairobi-based Roy Hauliers Ltd.

The event has been designed to bring together international industry professionals from the metals recycling industry.

The RAA anticipates attendance from metals recyclers, traders, secondary metal producers, retailers, waste management companies, technology providers and other stakeholders.

The venue, Safari Park Hotel & Casino, is “Africa's largest and most exciting conference destination” and “an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Nairobi” featuring “sparkling water gardens, an inland beach, beautifully landscaped gardens and a wide selection of five specialty restaurants.”
